Corey Fortier

I am passionate and energized by what project management and strategic planning can accomplish in our sector. I have had the professional privilege to lead priority projects supporting Canadians at the local, provincial, and national levels on issues spanning: patient partnerships & caregiver resources, health human resources, homecare program design, hospital program design, vaccine delivery, knowledge mobilization, professional networks, and government relations. I pride myself on building relationships and partnerships within and across sectors to exponentially multiply program impact. I have specific content expertise in pediatrics and the developmental services sector.

At my core I am a story teller and policy/process geek who loves supporting teams by building up their systems infrastructure. This background has given me the tools to be a confident conversation starter in our sector - turning ideas into vision into reality!

A few key projects I’ve helped deliver on recently: While a Hospital Manager at CHEO, I contributed to the creation of the Extensive Needs Service; While at Children’s Healthcare Canada I developed #KidsVaccinesDay, a national campaign that saw over 38 million impressions and led to vaccination education/ delivery events being held in every Canadian jurisdiction from coast-to-coast-to-coast. As a Board Director for Ontario’s largest Community Health Center - Pinecrest Queensway - I participated in the launch of a new strategic plan that keeps people, families, and communities at the core of what we do. These roles have provided me with critical insights into the current health & social policy landscape, as well as a deep understanding of considerations and pressures felt by healthcare leaders, frontline professionals, and organizations.

My project management expertise and facilitation skillset, along with my LEAN Healthcare Green Belt, allow me to quickly identify system issues, propose new creative workflows, and build consensus and coordination amongst a team to execute and deliver. I am recognized as a change leader and believe change management and communication planning are critical to any new project affecting frontline services. I am a politically astute communicator having worked with all levels of government on sensitive files with a range of competing perspectives. I believe in collaborating and co-creating solutions with families, youth, experts, decision makers, and organizations to identify gaps and develop innovative capacity-building solutions.

I have honed my presentation and communication skillsets having written briefing notes and presented directly to senior leaders including all 13 children hospital CEO’s or their designate, Canada’s Chief Public Health Officer - Dr. Tam, members of the National Advisory Committee on Immunization, and senior staff at Health Canada, PHAC, and MCCSS in Ontario.

I am a dynamic bilingual communicator with over a decade of leadership experience bringing an entrepreneurial approach to problem solving while also creating a safe, supportive environment for teams to thrive. I am committed to EDIA approaches and recognize my positionality and privilege which I use to open doors for others to walk through and build stages for others to star upon. I also recognize our responsibility to reconciliation and am committed to authentic engagement and partnership with rights holders.

I have started Cedar Courage Consulting to help you identify your big ideas and create a plan to succeed. I want to inspire courage while providing the comfort of project management expertise ensuring you have the plan and capacity to execute. Together we can build effective and resilient systems, build capacity in frontline and leadership teams, and convene key partners to create impact for patients and clients - I will ensure your team shines!
